
Prior to founding the WM Group, Walter spent thirty years at the world’s leading agencies working on both domestic and international assignments. Most recently, he spent 17 years in senior management at McCann-Erickson. He has also worked at DDB Needham, BBDO, Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thompson.
Walter has developed and implemented effective, efficient marketing and communications programs for over fifty clients in a wide range of products and services. He has particular experience in complex service offerings that precipitate fundamental shifts in consumer behavior.
He has done brand, product and service programs for Wells Fargo Bank, Wells Fargo Insurance Services, Fireman’s Fund Insurance, Nikko Investment Advisors, Charles Schwab International. He performed the strategic planning and all communications for the launched a new Blue Shield of California HMO, Access Plus, that resulted in winning an EFFIE award for marketing effectiveness.
Walter worked with PG&E for over ten years on the corporation, the utility and the national energy services company. He led the team on brand advertising, product and service program communication and crisis communication during the San Francisco earthquake and other emergencies. His work for PG&E resulted in two EFFIE awards during his tenure.
Walter holds and MBA in Marketing and an MA in Communications from Stanford University. He serves on the Boards of Directors/Advisors of the Bay Area Development Company (SBA lending company), the New England Kurn Hattin Homes (school for disadvantaged children) and Specialty’s Café and Bakery (restaurant chain).
